Location and access:

The village lies on voivodeship road no. 302 connecting Zbąszyń with Nowy Tomyśl; it is approx. 10 km from here to both towns. The plot itself is reached by a municipal road (plot no. 238) which runs up to its shorter side. In Zbąszyń there is a railway station on the Warszawa - Poznań - Berlin main line, with a modernist station building after a general modernisation completed in 2025 and regular regional services towards Poznań. Drivers have the A2 motorway junction near Nowy Tomyśl, and in Babimost, approx. 10 km from Zbąszyń, the Zielona Góra-Babimost airport is in operation.

Village and surroundings:

Nowe Jastrzębsko is a small, quiet village of Olęder origin (a settlement founded under Dutch-type law), today with just under 140 inhabitants. Gmina Zbąszyń is one of the most forested in the region: forests, mainly pine, cover almost half of its area. Shops, the primary school named after Arkady Fiedler as well as a general secondary school and a technical secondary school are in Zbąszyń; Nowy Tomyśl is the seat of the county with a county hospital, famous for its wickerwork traditions, with the only Muzeum Wikliniarstwa i Chmielarstwa (Museum of Wickerwork and Hop Growing) in Poland and a giant wicker basket from the Guinness Book of Records.

Recreation:

The greatest asset of the area is Lake Błędno in Zbąszyń, also called Jezioro Zbąszyńskie: 742.5 ha of water, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing on the Obra route, which links the whole chain of the Jeziora Zbąszyńskie lakes. On the lake there is the municipal beach Łazienki with a seasonal supervised bathing area and a hire point for water equipment, and next to it a campsite by the town park. Zbąszyń is also the centre of the Region Kozła (the region of the kozioł bagpipe), with the Biesiada Koźlarska held since 1973 and a music school training young kozioł players. For everyday use there are the forests around the village, good for walking and cycling.
