The nearest railway station, Mieszkowice (approx. 5.6 km), is on line 273 Wrocław - Szczecin, the so-called Nadodrzanka (the Oder line). From here it is approx. 51 km to Gryfino and approx. 70 km to Szczecin, and the German border runs nearby: Berlin is approx. 85 km from Zielin in a straight line.Village and surroundings:
Zielin is a large village with its own council (sołectwo), approx. 800 inhabitants, with a history going back to 1334. In the centre stands a granite church from the 2nd half of the 13th century with a Baroque tower from 1704, an altar from 1614 and a pulpit from 1692, and next to it a Baroque palace from 1720 surrounded by an 18th-century park, which today houses a primary school. There is also a parish and a volunteer fire brigade on site, and basic shopping can be done in the village. Full municipal facilities (the municipal office, schools, shops) are in Mieszkowice.Recreation:
Lake Zielińskie (7.2 ha), on the Równina Gorzowska (Gorzów Plain), adjoins the village. The municipality is agricultural and forested in character: forests cover approx. 45% of its area and farmland a further 43%. Part of the gmina lies within Cedyński Park Krajobrazowy (Cedynia Landscape Park), with nature reserves and views over the valley of the Odra (Oder), and the Blue Velo cycling route runs along the river. In Moryń there is Lake Morzycko (342 ha, one of the deepest in Poland) with a seasonal bathing area, and a geopark with the Aleja Gwiazd Plejstocenu (Avenue of Pleistocene Stars).Planning status:
This is agricultural land. No zoning decision (Polish 'warunki zabudowy', WZ) has been issued for the plots. You can apply for a zoning decision yourself at the gmina Mieszkowice office; anyone may file the application, not only the owner of the land. Until then the land works as a field, a meadow, an orchard or a place to rest, and once you obtain a zoning decision, also as a site for a homestead. Single-family houses already stand nearby, on the same road.Utilities and access:
