Description

Building plot for sale, 4 897 m², in the village of Ostrowąsy, 6 km from Barwice, in powiat szczecinecki (Szczecinek county), West Pomeranian Voivodeship, north-western Poland. A regular, elongated strip of meadow measuring approx. 40 × 133 m, with a few self-seeded birches and a zoning decision (Polish 'warunki zabudowy', WZ) for a single-family house. The terrain is gently undulating, with open views of fields and forests; to the north a belt of trees, to the south meadows turning into farmland, and wind farm turbines on the horizon.

Location and access:

A local asphalt road leads to the plot from Barwice, running through an avenue of old trees; the plot adjoins it with its shorter, south-western side, while an unpaved road runs along the opposite, north-eastern boundary. The village buildings stand a short distance away along the same road. In Barwice there is a junction of voivodeship roads no. 172 and 171. Szczecinek (approx. 23 km) has a bypass on the S11 expressway, which is being extended towards Koszalin and the coast, and is a railway junction with direct trains to Poznań, Piła and Kołobrzeg, among other destinations.

Village and surroundings:

Ostrowąsy is a village with its own council (sołectwo) in gmina Barwice (municipality), with approx. 320 inhabitants, situated on the Gęsia stream, a tributary of the Parsęta. For centuries it was a fief of the von Zastrow family; reminders of this history are the half-timbered church, in its present form dating from 1728, with a baroque altar and pulpit, the remains of an 18th-century palace park with the ruins of the palace, and an early medieval hillfort on the wooded Gardzka Góra hill, 1.5 km west of the village. There is a village community hall on site. Everyday errands can be done in Barwice, and the full county facilities (a hospital with an emergency department, a swimming pool, a cinema) are in Szczecinek.

Recreation:

Gmina Barwice lies in the Drawsko Lakeland (Pojezierze Drawskie), a post-glacial landscape with the lakes Koprzywno, Dębno and Sierakowo and the Dębnica river. The nearest larger lake, Koprzywno, is approx. 9 km away, just beyond Barwice. Szczecinek stretches between lakes: on Lake Trzesiecko there is a town park with a promenade and a pier, a water tram (passenger boat), seasonal bathing areas and a water-ski cable lift, one of the longest in Europe; the shallow Lake Wielimie is a water body valued by anglers, as is the Parsęta. On the western side of the region lies the spa town of Połczyn-Zdrój with its historic Park Zdrojowy (spa park, approx. 80 ha), and by the road from Połczyn-Zdrój to Czaplinek is the Dolina Pięciu Jezior (Five Lakes Valley) nature reserve, where the Drawa begins, a well-known canoe route of Drawski Park Krajobrazowy (Drawsko Landscape Park). A local speciality is Koprzywno bread (chleb koprzywieński), baked for decades to the same recipe.
