Location and access:

A local asphalt road leads to Barwice, the seat of the municipality (6 km). The entrance to the plot is an access point from the road on plot no. 203/3; some of the field roads in the area are unpaved. The nearest voivodeship roads, no. 172 and 171, cross in Barwice. Szczecinek (30 km) has a bypass forming part of the S11 expressway and a railway junction with direct trains to Poznań, Piła and Kołobrzeg, among other destinations.

Village and surroundings:

Ostrowąsy is a village with its own council (sołectwo) of medieval origin, a former fief of the von Zastrow family, today with approx. 300 inhabitants. In the village stands the historic half-timbered church of Our Lady of the Rosary, in its present form dating from 1728, with a baroque altar and pulpit; the remains of an 18th-century palace park with the ruins of the palace have also survived, and 1.5 km to the west, on the wooded Gardzka Góra hill, an early medieval hillfort. Approx. 500 m from the plot flows the Gęsia stream, a tributary of the Parsęta, a river valued by anglers. There is a village community hall on site; the everyday facilities, shops, school and town office, are in Barwice. A local speciality of the municipality is the traditional Koprzywno wholemeal bread (chleb koprzywieński).

Recreation:

The area lies on the edge of the Drawsko Lakeland. The nearest larger lake, Koprzywno, is approx. 8-9 km from here, beyond Barwice; the municipality also has the lakes Dębno and Sierakowo and the Dębnica river. 22 km to the west is the spa town of Połczyn-Zdrój with the historic Park Zdrojowy (spa park, approx. 80 ha) and treatment with therapeutic mud and brine. Beyond the town, by the road to Czaplinek, is the Dolina Pięciu Jezior (Five Lakes Valley) nature reserve, where the Drawa begins; further on stretches Drawski Park Krajobrazowy (Drawsko Landscape Park) with several dozen lakes and with hiking and canoe trails. In Szczecinek (30 km) there is a promenade on Lake Trzesiecko, a water tram, seasonal bathing areas and one of the longest water-ski cable lifts in Europe.
